I've replaced the rubbers seals to allow to open the passenger dfront door from inside.

Today I did a compression and leak down test on the V50 (bought for cheap with known motor issues).

Need to confirm the numbers on the donor motor from Erie Volvo, but look much better with 50k fewer miles.

That’s a beautiful brick floor for a junkyard!

I remember a discussion about having a brick floor or just solid ground.

So I looked up the type of soil of which this city is build on. Seems like the foundation is a mix of clay, peat, and sand. So it’s ever slightly sinking.

The floor is probably paved for easy maintenance and no stuck parts or cars on the ground.

If you have the alarm set or some other drain on the battery, 3 weeks to no start is not surprising. This happens to my 2001 Mercedes all the time is I don't drive it.

A full suspension refresh is underway for my 850 wagon. I had a productive weekend and got half the garage cleaned out to make room for Scarlett.

She's sat there untouched for a year. I dropped a new battery in and she started right up.

Big order from FCP arrived

You northern boys are gonna hate how easy it was to start disassembling the from suspension. Not a single drop of penetrating oil or heat was used here.

I haven't touched the brakes on this car since purchase in 2006. Ive put about 100,000 miles on her in that time. I have no idea if these are factory brake pads.

Every conceivable boot is torn. CV axles, ball joints. Sway bar endlinks, power steering boots, all of it.

This list of "while you're in there" parts is growing rapidly.

I've sprayed high build primer on the tailgate and sanded it down again. Probably gonna repeat this process once more but with a thin coat before going to the base coat.

I'm thinking of buying some infrared heaters to use as curing lamps because spray painting has to be done at whatever the outdoor temp is right now, and it's mostly around 10-14 C which is too low. Doesn't have time to dry between coats even if I give it 10 minutes. I do not have a real paint booth so I am dependent on the whims of the weather.

Regarding the "slot" or groove under the tailgate window, that's a real rust accumulator. Here's a tip I got:

I got this tip to fill it up with some suitable sealant instead. Doesn't look that good on the pictures, and this guy has basically sealed up all the trim pieces on his car (mk.1 V70) like this, claims it stops the panels rusting behind. Function over form he says.

Filling up that groove with something like this is the plan. Not sure what, some kind of material is suitable. Sikaflex perhaps or maybe seam sealer. I think perhaps with care one can get a pretty decent looking bead. Or maybe glue on a decorative strip to hide it.
