Haynes printed MANY copies of paper manuals in the time of 240s. They have good wiring schematics. See if you can find one to purchase online.
Did the perp cut your wires or just unplug them? Cut wires should be of different colors and can be matched and spliced together. Use good crimp connectors - not twisted together unless you solder and wrap with tape.

see if this makes sense,

it is from here :

The electrical portion of the igntion switch is held in by two screws so is reasonably easy to detach.

If the wires have been pulled off the 2 x red/black go to pin 15 on the switch. Red goes to 30 (pos. from battery). Blue goes to 50 (starter motor). Yellow to X. White/red to S. and blue/yellow to the un-named contact."

ok check the above we may be n a differnt year and things may have changed if so try to find the right schematic for the year.

it is easy to get the switch out, it is not so easy to get the whole alunimum affair out.
there are some screws used, intentionally have no heads. I turned them with a centerpunch and hammer, make a dimple first then tap the screw in the CCW direction, Id just replace with something more normal but you can cut slots with a dremil and then use a screwdriver.

the key lock is not part of the ignition switch iteslf, there are two screws and it unplugs. since the wiring was tampered with Id remove it give yourself enough length to repair the wiring. I always do a western union type joint and solder and use heat shrink and never have further issues

if only the switch is an issue dont take the rest of the column apart.
I di pull a whole entire wiring harness out of a 740. I also removed the column , it wasnt; somethign you should need to do here. likely it has the same switch.
