I think I know what the issue is but would like further information and advice. I have a front right brake caliper that is sticking. It is dumping a lot of brake dust all over the wheel, the other 3 are squeaky clean since I washed all 4 wheels only a few weeks ago. When I replaced my front struts about a month ago I found that the caliper pins on that corner had no lubrication, so put some lube in there thinking I solved the mystery but alas, I didn't.
At this point I think the caliper itself is freezing up. Does this sound correct? Is there a recommended supplier for replacement calipers? I have new brake hoses to go with this repair.
Here is a photo I just took of it. This wheel was completely clean a few weeks ago.

You might find a fresh set of pads will push the piston back into clean metal in the caliper but usually once they start sticking it doesn’t bode well. Centric are decent and are often rebuilt on Volvo cores.

Could be a bad brake hose.

I had a sticking caliper on my 99 S70 one day on the way to work. I took it back home, and jumped in the 850.
When I got to working on the S70, I planned to replace the caliper, but the ordered caliper was incorrectly rebuilt. My solution was to pull apart the original caliper, clean it, and reassemble it. The only new parts I used were pads, and the hose. No problems after that.

Planning to head to my local NAPA to get a new caliper, I've had good luck with NAPA so I trust that their rebuilt calipers are decent after reading about it. Thanks!jreed wrote: ↑10 Oct 2025, 05:35 This awesome post by FireFox is recommended reading for brake calipers failures and options for repair/rebuild.

I put rebuilt Napa calipers on the rear brakes of my 97 855 last year and so far they have been working fine with no trouble noted.

Yup, new line. I have another one to install on the drivers side too. I have an iPD shipment arriving on Monday for new steering rack boots, backing plates/dust shields, and a new CV axle boot for the drivers side. If I have time I'll put that new brake hose on too when I get that other stuff installed. I feel like I've done a lot of replacing in the last year, lol.
