Hy Guys,
I need some help. As i couldn't extract the lambda on the catalytic converter (English key, penetrate oil, warming the stuff ...), I got the first exhaust line parts down and tried to work on my workbench, without any success.
I was wondering if it could be a good idea to simply replace it. 30 yo and 102 500 miles.
The most parts i see have 4 bolt to fix it to the exhaust manifold, mine has only 2. It's no more distributed by Volvo and for that reason, i can't find the part's number...
Can someone advice me to which one i should get ?
My car is from February 1995, 2,5 L 20 Valves 170 HP.
Thanks.
Manov

My mechanic buddy removed the O2/lambda sensors on an 02 XC70 I was helping with. I had soaked the sensors and wire brushed them in advance so it got a few heat cycles with the penetrating oil. He used an air impact chisel on on flat and both O2 sensors came loose easily. That chisel on the O2 sensor edge was good enough to break the crusty sensor loose. That car had 400kkm on it and seen many Calgary winters. So maybe you could find a muffler shop with oxy acetylene torch to get it really hot and then shock it loose.
Volvo lists several catalysts. However, 3 seem specific to the Australian and Japanese market, and one is for the 10V engine. That would leave this one, but the picture of the NLA part does not show the actual part. Maybe google th part number to see if you can find a picture to see if it is the right one:
