Pick a dual voltage one. I've got a 110 v and it trips my breaker when welding thicker metal. Plasma cutter trips it in seconds. I was so annoyed that found another phase in garage and made a 240 v outlet. Now need to upgrade my welders (ARC and MIG).JayPea44 wrote: 28 Oct 2025, 08:24 A welder is definitely in my future. I just want to get this on right now. I've done a little migraine welding in the past so hopefully I remember the most of it and my FIL can give me some better tips.
A trip to Harbor Fright for a welder might come sooner rather than later.
I did see something like this which would work a lot better if/when I can weld it on

That other flanges pair looks like a proper fix to me.

I only paid $300 for the machine, can't justify that much for very occasional use.vtl wrote: 28 Oct 2025, 06:01Need a better helmet? I paid around that sum, too. Heck, my stick welder was under $100, and I still use it for bigger stuff, like log splitter. Helmet is so far the most important part in welding. It protects you, it lets you see what you're doing. I have two cheaper helmets, got tired of seeing nothing or getting flash burns. Think about it.jonesg wrote: 29 Oct 2025, 06:28 I only paid $300 for the machine, can't justify that much for very occasional use.

Buyers like to say "I can always take it back", not so fast, theres a 18% restock fee. Only 90 day warranty, No stick gun, no alum spoolgun.
Primeweld 180 is the same price and comes with the spoolgun to mig alum and a stick gun for arc welding, dual voltage and stellar reputation for warranty and customer service, when they upgraded their machine they sent out free motherboards.

The situation hasn't changed much. Many budget exhausts still use catalytic converters with smaller reduction gears, so even if they don't immediately trigger a P0420 error, they often clean exhaust gases much worse than the stock unit. If emissions testing is important to you, I'd rather buy a good used stock exhaust or have the original catalytic converter professionally rebuilt than risk buying the cheapest aftermarket option. I use https://mostbet.net.in/ for the same reason. In a broader approach, this usually turns out to be a less problematic solution.vtl wrote: 27 Oct 2025, 10:57New OE DP costs exorbitant money. The affordable ones are made of thin cheap steel and cheap ceramic converter, which your rear oxygen sensor will dislike. I have a good quality 3" downpipe that has a cheaper converter, and the only reason I don't get a cat efficiency code is my ECM tune that ignores the downstream sensor altogether. But I can tell by smell that this aftermarket CAT is not anywhere near the expensive metal one that Volvo used.JayPea44 wrote: 27 Oct 2025, 10:52 This seems more expensive than just getting a new down pipe. My FIL is a welder, maybe I can ask him.
Bring a 6-pack to your FIL, welding an old car with a relative is a good bonding experience![]()

Here it you cannot buy used catalytic converters. The junkyard cut them out and recycle them so that is not an option.
Buying privately from someone parting a car out may be the only option for a used one.

Search the P80 pages for the company making cool SS flange kits in all sizes - the name is escaping me but it will return as my neurons slowly adjust to my home time zone
