Hiya everyone,
This is my very first post on any forum. A bit sad for a 73yr old guy whose been on the web for about 30yrs.
Anyway, my problem is that my front spot lights are not working. Fuses 17 and 18 are fine, the little led on the push button is not lit-up, so power is not getting that far. Something must be stopping the power before it gets there...... but what ???
Hope you guys can help me out.
Thanks in advance.
Ted

We dont get the diesels in the USA unfortunately, but probably the lighting is the same.
Power doesnt go through the switches any more on these cars, after year 2000 - the light switch sends acommand to the Central Electronic Module or CEM , to turn lights on.
Ill post up what I know about the 2005 circuit but I cant access my database while Im on travel (right by you, LHR on the way up to Birmingham this week)
There *** might*** be a lighting diagram in the maintenace Forum for my 2005 V70 'Catherine' - see the red link in my signature to get to that Forum , then look for Catherines thread.

I have had two of the headlight switches go bad in my Volvos. Swapping the light switch assembly is very easy. Especially if you have access to another Volvo P2 (S60/V70/XC70) from 2004 to 2009 to try swapping. I didn't try fixing the switch or reflowing the circuit board solder joints because the surface mounted components are much smaller than the soldering iron tip that I have. Getting replacement switches from ebay and pick-u-pull junkyards was the easiest solution. There are three spring clips and a small electrical connector. Access to the spring clips holding the switch in position is possible when the fuse hatch door is open.
