deferred maintainance is all that is.
If the belt is oiled it should be changed, any seal can be done at that time.
Loosen the oil dipstick to relieve crankcase pressure for now.
Sometimes the seal can be pushed back in place but the pcv has to be fixed as vacuum is what keeps the seals in place.
I don't think things are so bad at all, if the rear main seal had blown out youd have to pull the trans to fix that.

Its not like you crashed the valves and need to replace the head for $900 just in parts.

You can do this, its not major engine work.

Thanks, that's a great idea about the dipstick. This is on the outside edge of my experience, and I'd be working outside on the driveway. And I'm starting a new job this week and need reliable transportation fast. So it comes at a really bad time and I think I'm forced to move on.

I’ve got a student loaner car in CT I need to move out asap, could that work as a bridge until you get the s60 dealt with?

How long is your daily commute!

I’m overseas at moment, back this week.

The commute is only about 15 minutes. But I need to move expeditiously on this. I have a couple of places to check out today. Thanks.

With oil leaks you have to get the oil cleaned off, and then go looking hard to find it.

95% of the time its a cam seal and those are cheap to do.

Front crank seal is very rare failure.
