CCM reload software help? whats involved??

Hello, I spoke to my local Volvo dealership (3hrs drive away) about reloading software **If available**onto my 2001 CCM or a used CCM with the same part number. Both of which can be done (a new CCM is not available). The if available has me slightly concerned, i gave them my VIN number can they not tell me over the phone whether the software is available, i wish to avoid a 3 hour drive. Can anyone here help, i understand its possible, is it called a soft-load?
