2010 xc90 wire loom broken in door frame (rear flasher stopped working)

Post by rsnuke »

Does anyone have a how-to open and access this area so I can do a repair. My REAR indicator light stopped. Reason it seems like the door has the same green wire going to the rear.

When I put a tester pen on it... it flashes with 12V on/off... I presume this wire goes into the door for side mirror flasher then out to the back tail light with stopped working...

Any photos on how to remove or access this wire loom would be helpful... or open door panel

or is this a replacable part? if so how to?

Can you take a picture a little further away and post it? I am having difficulty figuring out the position on the door so as to try and help you.

I am thinking the black portion should detach (which I figure you have figured out). Their will be a tab to release it. If you can post that picture I can see which connector it is to look it up to see how it works.

You may have to go to a junkyard and pull a better harness. It is possible to de-pin the connector and gut the wire back and fit a new pin to repair it but it is tricky.

Thank you.

Neil.

Here is the picture of the harness. Hopefully it will help you better understand the routing. I think you have to possibly remove left leg kick panel to get access to this harness. Depending on your skill level and budget: 1. Brand new wiring harness from dealer(Hopefully still available for about 250?), 2. Salvage yard or ebay for about 50. 3. Call connector experts.com and they most likely will be able to make you a pigtail long enough so you can splice it inside of the door with marine grade crimp connectors with shrink, solder...4. Kama Sutra with trying to find proper wires to splice and solder.

I've had to do this repair on P80 Volvos, it is not fun. In one case a better harness from a junky car was the only solution as the wires had broken at the top if the pins.

Good Luck!
