Help with VIDA install

Hi All,
Many years ago I managed to get VIDA installed on an old laptop (which took forever to get right). My car has been off the road for a couple of years, but I'm getting it up and running. My old computer is dead, and I'm trying to get a new one set up. I remember lots of hoops to jump through in the past. Is there a definitive guide to installing it around here? I have all the files, just wondering if you can install on a newer OS, etc.

i would recommend paying the $5 over at volvodiag.com and running it through a virtual machine in vmware or virtualbox.
it just works.
