Is that the delta link bush or the pivot joint? The former is nasty of course, the other one not so bad

The og was osram. I replaced it with what was in store, which is Philips.
The difference in build was immediately seen when bulbs are placed next to each other.
Wow the old ones look robust enough to hold up a 5 pound weight

The bush. The other end while not always a breeze unless it is the RH end (due to there the anti-sway bar attached on LH end).

It is the one where a lot of very, very, strong engineering words get used!! :o

I suggested, worst cat to just burn it out.

Yesterday my 3rd brake light started giving me problems again. I tried whacking it once and it worked briefly, than whacking it didn't work anymore. Today, I took it apart.... bulb looked fine of course.

I found that everything felt loose at bulb connections. I wanted to remove the bulb, but noticed when I turned the bulb everything got tighter. It worked after than, so I just reassembled it. We'll see how long this lasts.

Nice looking set of rims and tires! Yes, the rims do like to get really crusty after many years. Most of mine have ben powder coated over the years to keep them fresh and easier to clean.

I tried to reassemble the front suspension of my V70 I today, but didn't get very far. The spring hits the body?!

The car is a 1998 V70 I with the B5254FS engine. The original spring code is 32 and the springs were marked green.
The new shocks are TRW JGM278T, the springs are KYB RA3789, the upper strut mounts are SKF VKDC 35634.
The lower control arms are TRW JTC916/JTC917.

I double checked all the part numbers in VIDA and they match

As you can see, they are bowed "outwards", but the spring sits all the way in the indentations. The spring should be the right way around, the smaller winding is towards the shock and the bigger winding towards the upper spring seat. That is the way the old springs were installed and IMO the only way they fit. What's odd is that the writing on the springs is upside down this way, but that's not the first time I've seen that.

The consequence is that I can't get the upper bolt of the wheel knuckle in before the spring hits the body.

I didn't want to open a thread for this singular issue, but did anyone ever experience something like that?

So apparently it was actually the spring at fault here. You can see that the end that goes to the shock is just slightly different in terms of bending angle. But considering the actual contact area is very small, this is the most important area.

But as you can see, the old spring sits further to the front and is straighter.

The clearance between spring and frame is still quite small, but clearance is clearance I guess. Also the lower control arm is not bolted down yet (this has to wait until the car is back on the ground to avoid having the rubber in tension.
