'04 V70 113k miles - Timing Belt???

Post by Tennisplyr »

The manual says I need a new timing belt at 120K.
A private mechanic recommended it at 105K
and last week the dealer recommended it now.

Can I wait to 120K and should I have it done now????
Thanks,

It's 105K and you better do it NOW
The manual does NOT say 120K, what the heck are YOU reading?

Thanks,
How odd, the interval depends on engine VIN, according to the 2004 models maintenance chart. What's your engine VIN? (It's the 6th and 7th digits of your vehicle identification number).

Knock yourself out.
Personally I wouldn't wait 120K miles ON ANY CAR much less a Volvo to change a T belt.
If it or the tensioner breaks you can say goodbye to your engine!
Is that what you want to happen and are you willing to play Russian roulette with your car?

I just called my service manager, (Keystone Volvo is the best dealer out there) 105K TIMING BELT change FOR ALL VOLVOS, no such a thing as a 120K change.
