Why are you needing to calibrate the speedo? With the correct tires, the speed would be the same as they would have the same rolling circumference.

15" wheels (been a while since I used those) had something like a 195/60/15 tire (I may be wrong and winters had a 185mm recommended), but I ran up to a 205.

16" is where Volvo made a change to the tire recommendation after a number of complaints of sidewall damage and changed the tire from a 50 to a 55 profile tire. No speedo calibration change was made.

The other issue is people using tires for a V70 XC on a standard V/S70 which had a taller sidewall. That will throw off the calibration a bit. There are several websites that you may be aware of that compare tires and the affect on indicated speeds. This website also lists variants for P80's:

I think that's the issue. The tires aren't the OEM size for the car, but he's wanting to use them up without having to remember his speedometer is a bit off. I've been in this same situation with my Cadillac. I have Deville rims/tires on my CTS so I have to remember I'm going slightly faster than the speedometer is telling me. I got a great deal on the combination, for the rims, and didn't want to waste the tires. This coming spring, I'll likely get new tires because I want to return to the factory ride (higher aspect tires are a bit floaty) and accurate speedometer.

This might be something that 850OBD2 app can do. There are several newer features that saw last time I used it, but have not explored. Right now, I'm not connected to my car so poking around is kind of limited.

This typically not a problem for me. I never wear a set of tires out any more with the low mileages we drive now we are retired. Bigger issue is they rot out long before they wear out! :D
