Vacuum tree wiggle- 98 S70 T5

Post by veezmachine »

Hey all, was wondering if anyone else noticed that the vacuum tree on the manifold has a bit of wiggle/play to it even when tightened down? Asking because I've snapped 2 bolts before trying to get it tight on there (and managed to get them both out thankfully), but I wanted to make sure that I was in the right area by leaving it after just hand-tightening. I can't find any torque specs for it, so I wanted to double chekc. Thanks!

That needs to be firm to seal against vacuum leaks. Check the gasket and see if there is nastiness there

Just a wrist torque on those bolts, don’t gorilla them. M6 so 10 ft lb is plenty

Been a long time since I removed a vacuum tree. Does it not have an O-ring on there where it bolts down? If it does, it does not have to be cranked all the way down hard. Are the bolts too long so bottoming out before getting the tree tight?

Neil.
