The 07 S60 2.5T fan will squeak when the car is moving forward from a stop or coming to a stop. Bearing is sloppy but hoping it's still be okay with some lube. Can't wait for warmer weather.

It is warm now in North Carolina, why are you complaining?

Cold if you lived most of your life in CA :D . Just when I start getting use to the heat or cold the season is over. I've also lost 20 lbs within perhaps 6 weeks 3 months back due to the cancer so I'm still skin and bones  .

On my S60, the blower motor started whistling in the winter of 2018. I still haven't replaced it (viewtopic.php?p=643927&hilit=garage#p643927). Sound never got much worse, and it makes no noise at all in warm months. Just one data point and YMMV, but FYI.
@abscate please note a sample size of n=1
That makes a SNR OF SQRT(1) = 1

I have saved many electrical motors by lubricating the bushings. Very often, ppl call it "bearing", but it is essentially a "bushing", a cost-cutting measure in places with light load and simply spinning around. A bushing is cheaper than ball bearing:

- Portable electrical space heater...1 drop of oil every 5-7 years.
- Hair dryer motor...
- I have an old Bosch clothes dryer...same thing...1 drop of oil every 5-7 years.
- The only problem with Volvo (or any car) blower motor...
it is a contortionist position you assume to get it out of the car: it is not a pleasant job as you get older.

Once the blower motor is on a bench, it is VERY EASY to lubricate it. I showed the tricks in 2005 XC90 forum: I did it almost 10 yrs ago, so far so good.

Another benefit of lubricating the motor shaft...1 less item going to landfill site...

I managed to silicone spray lube my p2 blower which would chirp on deceleration only. Still good

This is a great idea, give it a quick spray in situ. I might actually try it! Maybe next cabin filter change.

Hi @abscate,

Do you have a photo to show how to spray in situ?

I searched and couldn’t find this job. Did I make this up in my head? My blower definitely was noisy and now it isn’t. Maybe I replaced it?
