Are cheap engine hydro mounts much noisier ?

Hola,

As my V70 is bound to do longer trips in the future, I'm trying to make it a little quieter inside. The car was fitted with some Powerflex polybushes at some point, which I've since reverted to stock, but it's still not as quiet as it used to be when I bought it in 2019. Not "engine in the passenger seat" loud, but still annoying on long drives. Definitely comes from the engine bay.
The mount by the crank balancer is a Febi from a few years ago, looks fine, not collapsed. Subframe bushings are also relatively new.

Which makes me think the cheap hydro mounts (Ocap brand, sourced from Skandix) I fitted in 2022 might not be as good as OEM. They look OK visually, but who knows how much damping they're achieving.

Has anyone had the chance to compare a good (Volvo, Lemforder, others ?) mount against a cheap one

Are you running the same tires /tyres as in 2019 ? That's usually the first place I look at when it comes to cabin road noise.

For the round engine mounts especially go with Volvo or Hutchinson (OEM supplier). I tried Hamburg Technic to save a few dollars and vibration was worse than old originals.

Krons, I assume you are referring to the hydraulic mounts on the front and back of the engine? If so, can you describe the vibration you were getting that replacement solved? In my case I get vibration when in drive and reverse with foot on the brake. In Park I get much less.

I've been through a few sets of tyres since, but the noise is very RPM related and not so much speed related (that's for the wind noises, which is another issue

)

Interesting, didnt know Hutchinson was the OE for those. I think I'll order some in hope that the weather lets me replace them before the summer !

I was wanting less vibration at idle. I’ve had CV shafts cause vibration during acceleration.

Job done, not a fun one (dropped the subframe to do the sway bar bushings while I was at it).
Went with the same parts as FCP Euro, as choice for good brands seems scarce: Vaico for the front mount, Lemforder for the rear, Hutchinson for the top anti sway bushing (engine side).

Didnt make a large difference, although it did get rid of some vibrations. I guess the noise is mostly exhaust/lack of many shields related.
Engine does feel a lot more solid, no more rocking around.

Existing parts are:
- Febi lower mount (pulley side), 5 years and ~70k km, looks and feels fine
- Hutchinson anti torque mount (firewall side)
- Volvo gearbox mount with the smaller bushing replaced by a home made 85A polybush (softer than most commercially available polybushes)
