Hello,

I am a long time lurker on this forum. I'm reaching out in hopes that someone here may be able to perform a CAN capture of their P2 XC90 for me to analyze.

Here is the story:

I have a 2013 XC90 that was shipped from Volvo with a B6304S and a TF80-SC.

I have installed a B6304T4 from a 2013 S60 into the car along with the XC's original TF80.

I have the engine where it will start and idle using aftermarket engine management.

I need the CAN dump from an operable XC90 in my original configuration so that I can determine the frames required by the TCM so that I can hopefully drive the vehicle sooner than later.

Please respond if you are able and willing to help with this request.

Thank you in advance.

The transmission is not going to work after I removed the Denso ECM and installed a EcuMasters EMU PRO to run a B6304T4 from a 2013 S60.

The TCM relies on CAN frames sent from the ECM to choose the correct shifting strategy.

Fames that I know it needs:
- Brake switch status
- Engine oil temperature
- Throttle position

I'm sure that there are more.

But I either get a CAN dump from an operable vehicle or I have to figure out how to ROM dump the TCM.

Or, replace the TCM with a standalone but I'd rather not do that unless I have to.

There are many more. Cruise Control status, Engine RPM, most importantly, torque control/torque reduction, without a reply from the ECM with the changed torque it will likely go into limp mode(not confirmed tho).
It also reads Vehicle Speed from ABS over CAN.

Okay, well that's why I've asked for a CAN frame capture from someone willing and able to obtain it

FYI, the EcuMasters EMU PRO can build CAN frames. I have it connected to the Volvo high speed CAN and I also have a P-Can that I can do my own captures with but never did that (very unfortunately) before I began swapping the engines because I had a fundamental misunderstanding of the difference in the files loaded on each ECM.

They were both Denso MB279700-9500s.

However, when I got the flash pulled with a K-Tag on the bench, I realized that the instruction flash was different as well.

Call it naivete, but I had hoped that the security routine was in the bootloader. I do not believe that's the case. And due to the fundamentally different types of security systems on a P2 XC90 and a P3 S60, I decided to replace the ECM and just ignore the immobilizer that way.

Well, I managed to drive it anyway. Not very far and there is a HARD shift to drive (RPM too high, brake pedal status not sent, IDK???)

Anyway, here it is:

The reason for the hard shift from park to reverse is like dikidera has stated.

The torque reduction negotiation between the ECM and TCM needs to be sorted. I am working on that now.

I have made progress.

The DBC file that I'm working on is here:

https://github.com/gregoryables/Volvo.P2.XC90.CAN_RE

I may add CAN logs later but for now, just the DBC.
