I was spending yet more time cataloguing may treasures from the last junkyard trip or 2. It means spending time trying to identify what things were and what Volvo they came from. This requires time spent on Volvo dealer parts stores websites looking for part numbers. While parts have become particularly ridiculous with OE parts often 500% higher than the OEM supplier part price. To think I used to complain at when they were 50-100% more.

However these 2 parts today really had me not only shaking my head in disbelief, but really angry at the greed of Volvo:

1) Rubber 'buffers' - These are the little rubber cone shaped pieces that keep the license plate frame from rubbing the paintwork -

https://www.volvocarstorontoparts.ca/p/ ... 47291.html

In US terms these are about $7.50 each! What??? - I had pulled 7 of these and not charged at the junkyard. In $CDN that is $70 + tax!!

2) The plastic guide rings for the inner door panel door lock pins -

https://www.volvocarstorontoparts.ca/p/ ... 78892.html

In US terms that is about $30 each!! I pull these as they often fall off and again not charged for the 2 I have. That is over $40 CDN each with taxes!!

I think that I saw VPrints making a similar part to the bezel. I don't recall what they are charging, but I'm sure it was not close to that.

Time to make my pointless whine at Volvo Canada. Can't think it will make any difference, but at least I will feel better for saying something!

Google yielded an immediate result:

https://www.swedishcarparts.com/parts/1 ... e-39978892

They ship free to the states, I actually need two of these for the wife's car. I can pick up at my mailbox if you want me to forward it to you.

Much of my time during the job is spent hauling things up and down the stairs to the basement or in and out of the storage shed, or running back downstairs when I realize I need something else,or taking a break from standing out in the sun,or using flashlights or work lamps when it gets dark.

Very kind offer. Nope, don't need any currently. I just pull them as I have been asked in the past for them from other local owners. seems to be a common part that goes missing. I have a few in my stash I think in the dark grey and possibly beige.

Hello abscate.
What does the ominous, "Be careful venturing below the Health care line." mean?
If 'health care line' means the 49th parallel, maybe I shouldn't order stuff from Canada? (ha-ha)

I went to Swedishcarparts....had a question about a product...AND found a big, odd error in some listings while doing so.
I called them and while the rep needed time to answer the question, he was absolutely interested in the error I found.
He said he'd get back to me and hasn't.
I will call back tomorrow (Monday).

edit:
I have called back. I answered my product question -floor mat fit- to a reasonable degree and ordered them and 2 of the lock bezels.
The rep I spoke with said he corrected the big error -an incorrect phone number- but I didn't see any change.
Perhaps I need to log out and log back in.

It's so funny. Everybody went to college and so few can understand the simplest messages.
