Well this morning I finally had time to compare the 06 and 07 mirror glass. They are different. Of course they are different?!
The difference is really small but enough for then not to be exchanged over which I had hoped for the badly repaired LHS one. On that one whoever repaired or replaced it had used epoxy to glue the mirror to the backing plate. So I'll have to find a new one or wait unitl I can find a used replacement. It looks like it fits late P2 (2007-) but also P1 cars too. 2007 P2's are very rare in the yards here but as S60's used them there is more chance of finding one. P1's are becoming more common so that may be an option.
That also means it is likely the rear covers are not compatible either. Now I have to check that too.
