Currently $42 each at RockAuto.

For the last set of coils the car will ever get I might choose RockAuto at $42/per over eBay at $32/per and move on. That's what I did on the 07 XC70, will have to decide soon on the 06 S60 (RockAuto + shipping vs. FCP + free shipping).

As Krons points out there are a lot of ways to play this bet. The eBay route deserves consideration too. Completely agree that not everything on eBay is junk, but a photo while helpful is by no means ironclad proof of authenticity. The counterfeitors are way too clever, the sellers enormously variable, etc. etc. When already saving so much by DIY, my choice would be to not cut another $50 corner on such a key part.

Hopefully RockAuto is as well protected from counterfeiters as FCP, i.e. about as well as we can do. At least FCP has their own warehouses. RockAuto drop ships from distribution warehouses around the country (and from manufacturers), FWIW.

I don’t speak for FCP formally but I have never had trouble getting warranty credit for parts used on multiple cars. Per the text, the replacement warranty only applies to a given VIN and owner of course, but I have returned many parts for credit with a note telling the actual use pattern , successfully. Now that I’ve gotten rid of my Bavarian Money Waster, they might not be as accommodating.

Yes, to be clear I think FCP is unmatched for the "I want to be certain I can have something that works" approach.

This discussion is about ways to be skimpy and maybe not get burned when that bet plays out.

Actually, I don't care too much about the FCPEuro warranty for the ign coils bc these things last some 130K-150K or more.

All I want to know is the eBay sellers sell legit stuff by Bosch or not. If anyone has bought Bosch ign coils on eBay, you can share your experience.

PS: I don't blame FCP for jacking up the prices for most stuff by 5-10%. They do that to offset the cost of warranty returns. When comparing prices against autohausaz or rmeuropean...dot com...

The reason FCP warranty was discussed here, is because warranty can be used as insurance against counterfeits, if you end up with them. Not as insurance against early failure of true Bosch - you shouldn't need warranty for that, agreed. Hence the posts about "the last set of coils your car will need."

But no, I've got no info re Bosch ignition coils from eBay. Maybe few people will chime in to provide some useful data there.

Not sure if it's possible to know whether the eBay Bosch are fake. Even a highly rated seller couldn't know unless they are knowingly getting the product from an iffy warehouse supplier. Not sure any reputable seller would want to take a risk selling fake products.

Have A-Premium coils on the 02 V70XC. Purchased a few items from them. From the wiper arm assembly for the 12 XC90 to a set of Injectors also. Neighbor's son through my recommendation have purchased a few items including an AC Compressor for his 09 P71 Crown Vic Interceptor.

Sometimes their prices are cheaper on Amazon but comes with a 1 YR Warranty only vs buying direct with a 3 YR Warranty. Though the 02 V70XC only had 83K miles when purchased decide to go KRONS route just in case the car needed a lot more work and was not worth keeping. Have 3 spare coils as 2 on the car were bad.

Just remember  . Injectors were for the 02 V70XC. Coils were for the 00 S70 SE NA and then transferred to the V70XC when the S70 was wrecked. A-Premium is friendly and responsive.
