Question on Blower/Resistor

Ii bite on this one. I’m guessing running backwards runs on the high ridge on worn brushes which will work for a short time, then will fail again. Time for a new motor

You are correct - I removed the mounting cover. The motor housing has a decent amount of dust as a result of brush wear.

follow up - New fan arrived, installed and I once again have air flow - significantly better than before I might add.

High five to the Volvo engineer who placed the fan where it was and made it so easy to swap out. I have done fan replacements which took an entire day because you have to practically pull the entire dash to do it.
