If anyone is curious, these were a hidden backdoor in the order book that only a dealer would know about. You could check some boxes and it deleted radios, A/C, etc, and added a heavy duty suspension and a big block.
A handful of dealers figured it out and ordered a bunch of them to resell to other dealers and drag racers.

My original 4.5x15 wheels. They’re original / proper / correct, but damn they’re skinny and I’m not going to any shows. Original tire was 155-15.

I found someone selling these widened (banded) wheels from a machine shop in NC in the 70’s. 6x15. Not extreme, not so deep to be too hotroddy, but the top of the hubcap is flush with the rim. I stripped and painted them. Someday I’ll finish this thing and we’ll see how they look. 185/65-15 is the same diameter, but a hard size to find performance tires in.

It’s mostly “performance all-season,” whatever that means. There is a good Michelin in that size in Europe, but they won’t ship them to the US.

On the other hand, I’ve read that an average good tire now is better than what was on it in 1967.

“Too” much grip can also mess with the steering box and bushings designed for more slip.
