2007 S60 2.5T To Banjo With Or To Banjo Without Check Valve

.
Can the banjo bolt without the check value be used for the PCV system? Reviews seem to indicate the check valve is unnecessary.

I’m thinking the check valve acts to protect the PCV system in the event of a bad engine backfire.

Not sure how that works to protect it. Can't remember when I had an engine backfire so don't think that is the main reason for the check valve.

The check valve prevents pressure from escaping from the intake manifold to the crankcase when you are in boost mode
