Replaced the old steering wheel with one from a c70.
The colour is a dark grey, compared to the old black one. Luckily it’s not that much of a colour difference.

Leather is still in ok condition. But scuffs here and there, but it’s not worn yet.

The thicker steering wheel feels very nice, so I’m happy with my junkyard find.

Spoke too soon.

I need an alignment. The steering wheel is off.
Had an alignment not even two months ago…

Maybe I’ll try turning the tie rods even turns and see if that works.

Rolled the S70 Karla to EWR for a ten day trip.

30 mpg , no traffic on Sunday. Stopped and fixed SIL golf on the way.

,
Just turning the tie rods evenly may not do the trick. Regardless which way the steering is off you need to measure the Toe to see if it's Toe In or Toe Out with the steering wheel centered before deciding which Tie Rod(s) to turn. Use trash bags under the wheels for less friction and with engine running when centering the steering for measurement. Depending if it's Toe In or Toe Out and which way the steering is pointed left or right while driving you can determine which Tie Rod to adjust.
.
Blessings,

Are you sure the steering wheel is off? Check if the turn signals cancel at the same point when turning. It could be you fitted the wheel off by one or 2 teeth on the splines.

Swapped the 850 so it's last in the driveway in prep for tomorrow's snow.

Finally took a peek to see why my fender light isn't working after a small repaint a bit ago.

I have no idea where the wire for it is. Should it be coming from the front singal or is it from the door area?

Finally got around to swapping the C70 rear end, took way more time than it should have because I spent a long time fighting with the handbrake... New brake hoses while I was at it, before the ones on the car turned 30 !

Fitment is nicer, the wheels are a lot less tucked inside the fender

Had to take the console out to remove the handbrake cables, so I took that opportunity to remove the wood trim that was about to give up and replaced it with an already ruined one. I now have time to figure out if it's worth salvaging it, or if I should just retrim it.

Started putting the headliner back in this evening, after finding out the loud rattle appears to be from the tailgate itself...
