Looking for Help with A/C Fan Speed Knob on V70R

There seems to be a known issue with the A/C Fan speed knob on the V70R. Over time, when you go to turn the A/C Fan speed either up or down, sometimes it will go up to the next speed as normal, sometimes it turns off, or sometimes it even goes up to full speed.
It was mentioned that for the climate control module, you need to resolder the joints of the fan control on the actual circuit board.
Unfortunately I do not have the ability to do this. Anyone one in Florida able to assist? Would be nice to be able to take the car somewhere to get this fixed =)

Would it be easier to swap the whole unit with a junkyard climate unit? I don't believe it needs to be programmed, unless someone knows better.

It is a quick soldering job.

A used HVAC unit is $90 on ebay.

If someone is able to do it in south Florida, happy to pay. In terms of swapping out the unit, the only thing I am worried about is that there are additional buttons below such as DSTC, Child Window Safety etc. can these be inserted in all of them?

Also, I just saw a new unit being sold on FCP and it mentions "Requires additional programming", does anyone know why it would mention this?

If it’s on your 1995 R , no programming is required

Do you have a p/n for the rotary encoder? Or you mean desolder from donor? It will fail, too.

My fan speed knob just started flickering last week. I'll take it apart and do some soldering this weekend. Been soldering since HS. Before college I was an ECO technician resoldering PCBs that failed inspection. PCBs used to be much larger so soldering was easier back then.

I read it somewhere the failure is internal. Resoldering these pins may help temporarily in indirect way - it heats up and melts the solidified grease inside the encoder. True fix (besides replacement with a new encoder) is taking it apart and cleaning from old bad grease. I'm not up to that task, easier to replace the whole encoder, thus the question about part number

Virtually all YouTube comments and reddit ppl solved their problems by resoldering as mentioned in the video above.

PS: some years ago, I replaced the volume encoder in my Pioneer Stereo Amplifier at home bc of similar problems. In retrospect, my stereo problem could have been the solder joints but at that time, I was simply replacing the encoder. Anyway, some 15 years later, the stereo is still fine.
