Thinking to buy Michellin Crossclimate 2 for 2016 xc60 R design. Not sure i want Pirelli again. My local volvo dealer didn't recommend Continental DW7(or similar)..not sure if can justify cost of Pilots($450 per tire). Anyone has any good suggestions?

After long time of hesitation and doubts, I decided to experiment and bought 2 sets of Nokian surpass as01 tires for our xc60r(s). It is a new tire and Nokian tries to venture into all season tires segment. I have their winter studded tires on all vehicles(except a set of general on prius, but honestly nokians are better), so i though, they might as well be able to make a decent all season tire especially if I will use them only in warm weather. Price was very good at $880 after tax for 255/45/20. Time will tell if they are any good.

While I hate Michelin for their poor customer service, the Michellin Crossclimate 2 is the best I have found in the snow as an all season tire.
Recently bought my youngest a 2017 Ford Focus and put together a set of used Michellin Crossclimate 2s from eBay. Just couldn’t quite swallow the new price.

I heard only good things about crossclimate 2 while they are new. While they are wearing down, they progressively getting louder. Given their aggressive V-patrern they sure look and are capable. Currently goodyear and pirelli copied the design and offer similar product for still lots of money. Since I am strong believer in studded winter tires, I was not emphasizing winter performance for my purchase. But for people looking for 1 set to do all..crossclimate is a great option.

I have yet to find a good recommendation for 4 season tires. The 'Crossclimate' tires do rate well for snow and general use, but typically noisy in warm conditions and have poor ice grip. Where we live in winter we can get a lot of ice, so I stick with the summer/all season tires and a set of winters with a a good ice rating. Nokian tires are generally good, but expensive.
It will be good to hear your Nokian tire experiences.
Neil.

I havent had a chance to drive them yet. Car is sitting in garage and waiting for a warmer days. Still safer to have winter studded tires on at this time since temp is frequently dropps below freezing with lots of freezing rain..I have nothing bad to say about Nokian Hakkapellita 7 or 10 winter studded tires. I am getting many or years of use put of them. Likely average is 6 seasons. (Proper driving habits no more than 65mph, no crazy acceleration or braking, reduced speed for warmer day weather...). Hopefully all seasons will be good. I recently bought a set of all season AT tires from Cooper for my F150 and was very happy going from stock khumko tires. I have a good luck with goodyear assurance overall, but yet to have a set last more than 42k(only warm weather use, alignment, rotations...)but prorated warranty is good. Have a set of Briggstone Potenza 20R summer tires on 2015xc60-ok tire for cornering, but wet conditions and slight mud...(it was a great deal, but dad cant wait to get rid of them). Briggstone allenza 19r on 2016xc60...Great tire at first, but it is wearing faster than my old UAZ 31512 was rusting(you could hear it rusting just standing next to it). Have 2 sets of goodyear assurance on 01v70xc and 2016xc70 and they are ok.(but both were bought when goodyear were discontinuing 1st gen so they were 50% off, I could resist).

I have used crossclimate2 tires on two different vehicles and they're very good tires. They're not as loud as some people might say they are. However, loud is subjective because the skinnier the sidewall, the louder tires in general probably will be. I prefer bigger sidewalls for comfort. I chose a 195.65 R15 instead of 195 60 r15 on a P80. Or a 215/55r17 instead of 225/50r17 on a 7g Honda Accord.

Agreed no all-season beats a winter tire on ice.scot850 wrote: 22 Mar 2026, 10:48 I have yet to find a good recommendation for 4 season tires.
