Bench grinder dillema

Need advice. I want to add bench grinder to my garage. Primarily want to use it fo have nice wire wheel to clean all the rust from parts(PRNY). I was debating between delta, dewalt, harbor freight brands, bosch. Probably 6 inch max size. Main concern is how to attach it. I am prioritizing mobility. Was thinking to either attach it to u line table(Heavy Duty U-Line Industrial Workbenches – 30” x 60” – Adjustable – Power Strip – Casters https://share.google/NXUtROs4xQ3ntZvHc) or to buy https://www.harborfreight.com/46-in-9-d ... 56613.html and attach it to it. I saw some company makes nice stand with large ground plate and 2 wheels for about 380, but working area of the bench is very appealing. Thank you

Curious your thoughts on advantages of a bench grinder vs a wire wheel on a cordless drill. I’ve always leaned toward the mobility of the drill, last month had to wire wheel the 05 XC90 spare tire that had lots of surface rust before rust reformer rustoleum. Use my vice for smaller stuff. BUT—looking for excuses to get a bench grinder!

My thoughts on bench grinders:
A study stand is needed so they can't move around due to vibration and the need to push parts against the wheels.
It is a trade off of bench space versus space for a free stand.
If you need to sharpen tools, a bench grinder is much better.
A portable grinder/wire wheel is indeed very portable, but it always takes at least one hand to hold the grinder.
I have both but my stand grinder never gets used. Largely because it is stored out of the way.

I am tired of using wire wheels attached to drill. It is not safe. It might work for some items, but smaller things(caliper slider pin) are difficult.

I think I suggest Harbor Freight. Decent value at a low price. I don't think a home shop will ever wear out their bench grinder so a better brand is not needed.
For wire wheels, the twisted wire type work better and last longer although initial price is higher. Consider a coarse and fine grinder wheel if you need rough grinding and tool sharpening.
I have no idea on the stand.

I would be happy with Harbor freight for my light use needs. I don’t have my garage setup yet , hope to have that done this summer.

Flap discs are awesome for cleaning surfaces vs wire wheels. I’ve recovered quite a few brake discs with those

I have had a Mastercraft (Canadian Tire own brand) 6" bench grinder/wirewheel set up for maybe 20+ years. I use it regularly as it is easy to access by one of my workbenches. I use it for cleaning small parts, nuts. bolts, brackets and the likes.

Limitations are it is hard to get into smaller corners and also come larger parts. For that I use the wire brushes of various shapes and sizes on my drill and holding parts in a bench vice. For heavier duty stuff I use a grinder with wither a disc or wire cup on it.

I still have to se up a small blast cabinet I bought years ago and does not get used as it is on a shelf out of sight.

I thik the key here is to have the tools accessible and then you will find you use them more often.

Half way there. I bought a metal table on caster wheels which ideally made it into the space I had. Bonus point it had a heavy duty vice which is fully operational. It has a little surface rust, but nothing crazy. Planning to get angle grinder and scrape that off. What ti do with metal next? I was thinking to cover/wipe with fluid film vs some paint?suggestions?

I almost suggested a used table for the grinder, but didn't think you could find one.
What you found is great! And a bonus vice! AND I really like the wheels so you can get it where you are working and then move it out of the way. If the wheels don't lock make some chocks to prevent rolling.
My thought is leave the table as is. Too nice a work bench and it may not get used for working.
Anyway, that would be my approach.

Oh I could really use a table like that! Good find. I agree with Lugnut, you need to be able to bash and grind things on there, it's perfect as is.
