Volvo owner manuals no longer online ? 2004 on only?

My previous link to manuals is only showing 2004 models on?

Should we start archiving these here?

If there is a way then it would make sense. I have been saving the Canadian market owners manuals for Volvos for may years. There will be slight differences to the US models in terms of warning light names and volumes for fluids (although often they have both).

If anyone needs one I will happily post them out for $10 CDN + shipping. Some even have the folder that Volvo supplied them with. They are not all immaculate, but they do the job. Most are P80's, but I do have some newer models and older.

I hate to see these being left in older cars at the junkyard as I always think someone could use them.

I have seen dealers at flea markets with lots of old car manuals. But if we can find a way to put them online (without copyright problems?) we should try to do that.

Yes. I'll host these here. Wiring diagrams are a bridge too far, as we've seen, but owners manuals are not the same. They want owners manuals to be in the hands of owners.

Wiring diagrams are a revenue source.

Let’s wait a bit before we launch a big project. It makes no sense to remove these; maybe they are moving servers or something.

Volvo domains have traditionally orphaned (404 errors/moved/no URL forwarding) owners manuals. They've been doing this as long as I've been accessing those pages (2000-today).

They've done this in many waves over the last few decades. It's not new and not unprecedented.

From a webmaster perspective, I'd characterize it as "we don't care". (I've gone to great lengths to redirect old URLs here. MVS is not perfect and does generate 404s on occasion, but it's not intentional.)

Not a huge problem, Google can be the solution. Or Volvo's navigation to re-find the old document.

The problem arrives when the document you're looking for is simply NLA, like P80 owners manuals. Those are gone or very difficult to find. I should have done a concerted effort to download and organize these when I first noticed this behavior (mid-2000s).

Ok, here's my search for 850 owners manual just now: https://www.volvocars.com/us/search/res ... ab=explore

Nothing there, just three pages about the 850, and they get the year wrong, saying the model became S70 or V70 in 1997. That's the Europe switchover year and could be excused except the URL clearly shows this is USA: volvocars.com/us/...

So this is a plan to find digital manuals online and copy for MVS storage? Not to scan paper manuals?
