Coming back from Easter visit Saturday I suddenly get screeching fro the ps pump and little boost at low speed turns more than 1/2 wheel rotation.

Fluid level ok. No leaks underneath.

I ordered an aftermarket ps pump ftom FCP , AAE $350, OE Volvo $1000…. Ouch

Hope it isn’t the rack…

Are those pumps hybrid units with electric and hydraulic system? If yes, where you able to check power and ground to the pump? Also it might show codes if it is hybrid system

Hydraulic pump with electric solenoid control on rack

It’s the pump, got the hood up today and it’s chirping and wheezing with steering neutral, under no load.

New rack not too bad , $1300 oe Volvo

It rolled us home fine from NYC at 27 mpg , will decide it’s a me or indie job on Monday

Well had a look and the idler and tensioner are making the noise.

Hot Volvo oem for about 300 all in, and needed three hours , so sent it to Indy as I left for Paris at noon.

All done and back on the road same day. Thank you, Munch Motors
