Need suggestion for front calipers - 2004 V70 2.5T

I have a leaky bleeder valve. I looked at the original today and it was quite rusted. Unfortunately the new bleeder that I tried (genuine Volvo) leaked considerably more than the original. So I am resigned to buying a new caliper (or two). So far nothing has jumped out at me. FCP Euro has an Original Volvo caliper for about $305. Closer scrutiny shows it's a rebuilt. And there's a $100 core charge. And I read "Remanufactured units are often pressure tested." I wish it said "always pressure tested."

FCP Euro also sells Febi Bilstein aftermarket Chinese units for about $131.

IPD has some $65 rebuilt units with only a $27 core charge. I'm thinking if my bleeder seat is rusted that I may not get credit for the core.

And, of course, there's a bunch of stuff on Amazon.

I'd like to hear from those of you who have had good luck in buying calipers for the P2. I have the 286mm rotors. The Volvo part #'s are 8251315 (Left) and 8251317 (Right).

You might try lapping the seat of the bleeder valve using a new bleeder and valve lapping compound. You will not be able to get much rotary motion only on and off closed position. But it might be enough. I would work open and closed on the seat a bunch of times and then remove and renew the lapping compound. Repeat until you get a shiny seat?
Then use another new bleeder valve and retest for leak.
You don't have much to lose and may safe a lot of time and money.

@volvolugnut - Thanks for the tip. I have looked for a proper lapping tool but have not found one. Maybe a bleeder screw with the threads ground down would work. Deformable soft washers that would compress is something else I am looking for.

use a ball bearing, bigger than the bleeder hole, seat it over the hole and give it a sharp smack with a hammer, that should give it a sealing surface.

I bought ATE for $138 before tax/shipping on partsgeek last fall. It is still a reman unit, I think, but they are all reman. And no core charge.

I think $200 is amazing price for a brand new oem component. Brakes would be the last area where I would try to cheap out. Thank you vtl

- Re bleeder screw...use ATE, much cheaper and same as Volvo.

The ATE bleeder dimension is as shown. If you can find a conical copper washer with O.D. ~ 8mm,
it should solve the problem. Conical washers are used in fuel lines etc. Or you can simply use a flat
washer and tighten it down, it will become a conical washer...
