Not the #18 bus from downtown to Ballard, nope.

I thought I’d breeze through this video and teach myself some things. It could be I’m dimmer than I thought!

A 122 didn’t need no stinking CAN bus so its modules could talk! It didn’t need modules!

Could this be as simple as a beefy cable “CAN high” and another “CAN low” running the length of the car? Picking up all the modules as it goes?
This description makes it appear more complicated than that.

It is a nightmare is what it is! I do understand it somewhat, but it is a nightmare for those of us like me who are electric/electronic luddites to grasp how they work. I have a bit of a grasp, but the Volvo wiring diagrams cause me headaches just to think about looking at them. I've been trying to understand the differences between a 2006 v's a 2007 V70 turn signal/electric folding mirrors assembly to see if the turn signal on the mirrors can be integrated into our 06. However, Volvo does not have a diagram that lists what all the 15 wires from the door harness actually do. Naturally the mirror side of the connector has different wiring quantities. I've figured those out but really I am none the wiser.

And of course your mirror module is routed thru the left turn signal module and then the optional cigarette lighter module.

It’s much more reliable thansnslog wiring and easier to troubleshoot, once you invest the time to understand it. We spent many hours understanding other systems on our cars, which is easy to forget. Learning is forever ….

Key phrase. I can run a multimeter ok, but knowing which points to touch with the pins is key to finding anything out, and what that number means.

This is mostly above my pay grade, but really fascinating. Designing and installing a new quantum computer at an American university. Interesting to see super-scientists acting as construction managers!

But the way these machines operate is a whole new universe.
