Well, I effed up. I had everything bolted up and decided to test the shifter. I found that I had tightened the large flared nut of the PNP too tight and made the shift effort too high. Upon taking the shifter linkage back off of the PNP to loosen the nut, I accidentally snapped this plastic bushing housing that goes onto the end of the shift cable and connects to the pivot arm. This part is not sold individually anywhere as far as I've seen and is only available as a part of the entire shift cable assembly.

Does anybody know how many different Volvos models used this part? It seems my only hope is to try and find one from a junkyard or see if anybody has one they can sell.

Take some pictures with a scale and I’ll see it matches my 1999 parts car.

I’m not home yet but will be recovering tomorrow so will have a few hours of sanity

Cool, it looks like it's a somewhat common part on P80s and maybe some P2s as well. Here are some pictures using a credit card for scale and some rough caliper measurements. Turns out that the rod this part attaches to is not actually threaded but rather uses straight cuts and has a key on the end. There was a rod end ball joint on McMaster-Carr that I thought would work until I found this out so I will have to get a replacement part from another car.

Are you able to confirm if the part in your 2001 matches my photos? The only junkyard near me just so happens to have a 2001 XC70 so if I can confirm that it's the same part I can get it off of that car.

I have made a note to check this tomorrow. This may not be confirmation, since my car is 2001 V70 T5, not XC70.

Awesome, thanks for doing that! I put the order in at my local junkyard for it, hopeful to hear back from them today or tomorrow.
