I did move self hosting so links wasnt so working but i hope i did now get working 99% of them to my new domain (the .fi hoster doesnt support DNS updating as so easily). My apologies for this.
jreed wrote: 17 May 2026, 16:18 I'm a total newbie to Android but would like to run 850 OBDii and connect to my '97 855 GLT. Can anybody recommend a basic Android phone or tablet, the adapter that I should buy, and how to get it set up and running please? Sorry if this has been asked before/documented... I did a search on MVS and couldn't find a good basic FAQ / newbie intro that spells it out. Thanks!
Hi!

Any above Android 13 these days are fine (but i keep working on older Androids as far i can).
I did last fix even for Android 4.4 which i didnt wait someones were still using.
As i am Finnish i am biased i would first suggest Nokias (out of patrionism) or then Samsungs (i personally like to use) but i have Huawei as test phone too here.
Maybe something with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution on screen or higher so it can be useful or going directly in tablet.

Cheapest adapter: OBDCheck VP11 (Veepeak) The manufacturers Amazon page directly
