Coming back from Vet with Juno - thought it felt a bit sluggish
Country road, 35 mph

At light, rough idle with hunting between 500-1000 rpm
Power off line is weak, but builds better above 15-20 mph
Driveable but rough 20-40 mph
On braking, no power boost is apparent, brakes work fine

Where would you look first? You can choose up to 4 options.

Winner gets 5 liters of recycled oil from Calgary, shipping and duties paid for my winner.

Have fun!!

Ripped off a real quick compression test

Warm 170-165-165-160-170, number 1 -> 5

No ets light..I do know this throttle body is on its last 10k of life as it surges between 2000-2200 rpm

I have had a p0455 for a while

Well , the Creator is humbling my arrogance on this one. I had a first quick look at this when I got home , and posted up the poll, because I got a glimpse of this…

Did a quick repair with some stiff fuel line, and still have rough running.

Cylinders 3 4 5 dont seem to be firing

Compression test - ok
Fuel pressure - ok
Pulled injector rails and all injectors are firing equally
Checked grounds on top of cylinder head cover - ok
Checked ground straps from cover to frame - ok, both of them
Gettting potential throttle body code and also a P0354 coil D (4?) primary failure?

Gas in the tank (added 2 gallons to right side as I was on 2-3 gallon mark in an AWD

Current thinking is ETM has pooped the bed, finally.

So was the ruptured pipe the fix, or is it the ETM? I'm assuming you have a spare with all the cars you have had and parted. If not, let me know as I have a few LPT ETM's unless you plan the Ebay route.

I think she just said "hold my weave" :D

Coil D is cylinder 4 though, might have multiple issues going on but that's usually gonna be the coil itself. ETM is a possibility though, especially if it's getting throttle codes now. I know those can throw misfires when they fail.

I swapped in some used coils but still no 3-4-5 cylinder ignition

It’s front firing , too.

I will check timing in morning but I’m leaning to a bad ETM

In the meantime I am suffering daily driving the T5 m56…..

Now that is strange. Why would you have only 2 cylinders, 1 and 2 firing? Similarly, 3 not firing?

This makes no real sense how it is possible to have this condition. 1 cylinder or all but not this!

Hm. I need to think about this assuming you don't have a timing issue or 3 burnt valves.................

Fuel pressure good.
Coils known to be good, but no power on 3 4 5
Compression good.
12V supply to all coils good.
Grounds cleaned and good.

....and on KPII - there is no self test on the ETM - its quiet.

>>> ETM has finally died. Its a VOlvo MM original. 98W32 build date

Pullled the fan and radiator housing to access the ETM connector

My UBG Xmodex from Kat plugged in and self tested to perfection

You have to reconnect wiring harness to self test

I’ll document the removal in another thread
