I’ve scored 2 P80s with under 100k miles on Capital. Two more at the 150k mark that ran like 100k cars - all new Volvo parts

My latest , long Jane silver I bought to part put the m56 kit but couldn’t bring myself to cut up such a nice runner.

None were over $2000

08 S60 -09 of the 2.5T specifically was what my mechanic said was the most reliable. The 2.5T is an older engine that was iterated on and refined. The T5's had more issues with sleeves or rings if I remember. AWD is fun, but FWD is boring and trouble free. They are pretty well adorned cars in terms of features. Timing belt, water pumps, a spare fuel pump computer, and be prepared to deal with bad AC. I have not owned a volvo that didnt need an AC recharge ever outside of an 99 T5 i have sitting on a concrete pad waiting for whats next in life.

09 had bluetooth if i recall, my 08 had an aux. The only downside of this gen is after market radio support is a bit tricker, so just get one of those screens you attach if you need it.

Check PCV before you buy, the car i sold had a perfect pcv system under idle and load, only sold it cause i got another car for free. Do your oil changes at like 7k km and the car will do great, costoc full synthetic is surprisingly cheap, however you need 2 bottles per fill 6.1 Liters if i recall bersus a honda or toyota that uses 1 bottle. Im still floored that the v6 in my current pilot uses less oil then the 5 cylinder volvos i owned.

Having had 4 70-series Volvos, I gotta say the above pointer is spot on. Don't forget the roof rack!

Ignore "AWD is more fun and FWD is boring" advice as most people don't have the money to support spirited driving and you sound like one of them.
Get a second set of wheels and put Winter tires on them. In the snow, FWD with proper rubber often beats AWD with Summer tires.

The Venn diagram for you has 3 circles.
College student and Internship are two overlapped circles. The third circle representing "Spirited driving" is separate....don't select it.

I think you missed the end of the sentence. We both agreed on the same points

Unless this guy has the knowledge and readiness to deal with Haldex pumps and angle gears then i would strongly suggest against an AWD Volvo.
