Tools needed

10 mm Hex socket - two bolts on forward lower C-D trim along edge, one each side.
Torx T-25 4 bolts on lower tailgate trim
1 T25 above rear deck light for upper trailgate trim
2 T25 , one each side for upper C-D pillar side trim, to rear
thin screwdriver to remove safety clip
Hammer to pop off strut
Second person to hold/safety tailgate - you can prop it, but you dont want this thing falling on you - it will hurt and hurt you.

Assembly order is

First in lower tailgate trim 4 T25

Next D pillar trim on each side - snaps only, no fasteners

Next upper tailgate trim - one T25 center, on top of light

Finally, two C-D pillar trim - 1 T25 rear, 1 Hex 10 mm socket front (m6 bolt)

Snap in two side cover pieces, left and right, no fasteners

Typically for me the trim clips break for the side panels. They are those small black horseshoe clips that usually break. I keep a bag full of those I buy from a clip supplier in the UK as it is also used on P80's in the same area.

They do several other clips for different models. They have always bee quick to supply and priced are way cheaper than Volvo. Mind you, if you only need 6/8 it might be a close cost if you never have to take those panels off again for removing the rear light clusters for example.

I have to say p2 plastic is a lot sturdier than p80

I did this whole job with zero plastic casualties

My Southern Fried tailgate plastic panels (2001) are broken after once removed. I may try to super glue and put back in place, but I doubt it will happen. I have kept the pieces.
