Hi again guys-
My HU-613 radio crapped out a few months ago after a front-end fender bender, so I found another used one on Ebay but the seller says he has "NO CODES" included. I believe I read somewhere that my year, 2002, does not need any radio codes to enter to make another used radio work. Is this true?

Never seen a code needed for P2 radios. P80's yes not P2. Early P2's can have funny different stuff from the transition from P80 to P2. If it does somehow (99% unlikely) usually you can get it from Volvo from the Serial number on the unit. Not seen a code on a HU-613 unit.

I have never needed a code after I replaced car battery on my 2001 V70.

I understand, but I was thinking if a code was not required after battery replacement, then the break in electrical connection for a same design radio would not require codes because these radios never had a security code.
When I disconnect battery in my 2001 Mercedes, the radio must have the security code reentered.
