Hello again guys-
Can anyone send me a video on how to disable the car alarm completely on my P2-V70?
I checked on YouTube and one guy shows how to disable the horn/speaker sound, but I want to completely
disable the alarm system without incurring a CEL.
A recent visit to the mechanic regarding my previous parasitic battery drain says that the alarm system might
ne the culprit. I could care less at this point about anyone stealing my wagon as Blue Book says it is only worth $950.

At the alarm horn or somewhere else?
The alarm horn itself is encompassed by some troublesome bracket I think. Can I just pull the fuse?

Are you getting the 'Alarm service' light? If so you can pull the fuse. You may lose functionality on the sunroof as it is on the same circuit. I have read of other owners doing that to 'fix' the problem.
There is a connector on the alarm unit which is tucked on the inner fender on the RHS behind the RH headlight. It has a connector on it but to access it it is easiest to drill out the retaining rivets for the fender liner and access the mounting bolts for the alarm from there.
There are companies on Ali Express if I recall that claim to refurbish these units. They are priced a lot lower than the alarm unit new from Volvo. If you decide to buy a new Volvo one, note they sell a 'kit' which would appear to include the alarm unit and sensors for about half the price of just the sensor.
What fails is the internal battery which will often leak acid onto the internal wiring and also can eat into the circuit board. Sometimes the battery leaks but does not damage the board. The unit can be carefully sawn open (don't saw deeper than the casing as there is a connection internally that can be damaged). A friend of mine gets new batteries made for him at a local place called Battery World.
Some units are beyond repair, but those with no board damage can usually be repaired with a new battery, which is what I suspect they are doing in China.

Thx Neal but all I want to do is disable the whole alarm system without affecting anything else. My alarm horn does not work but if fir example I leave the windows open and the door locked and turn reach in to unlock thr door manually, the flashers go off.

There is a software update you can go to the dealership to perform the alarm delete. Bring your cheque book.
I unplugged at the siren, and removed the fuse years ago. I can deal with a "alarm system service required" message for 10 seconds on startup on a car with 430,000km. Easiest way I found was to remove the front headlight to get at it.

I am not getting any "alarm service" light. I am with you as far as not caring about any 10 second warning. What about pulling the fuse for the alarm? Is that fuse also used for the sunroof like the above poster said?
