Thanks!

I replaced mine in 2017 with the made in Estonia heater core from Swedish Car Parts. It seems to still be holding pressure. I soaked and washed it in the kitchen sink with water and hand dish detergent before installing to get rid of the oil smell, and also ran some water through the pipes to flush out any swarf. I bought it for $40 from their eBay store. Now they are selling it for $460!!! on eBay and $60 on their website but out of stock on their website.
Don't get the OE Volvo/Behr heater core. The production molds are worn out, and they fail rapidly.

I bought a Nissens heater core late last year, so far it has worked well and the quality seemed pretty good. +1 for washing the oils off of the heater core before installation. I didn't do that and my car stunk for weeks afterwards.

I’ve got three Nissens from FCP on three of my 1999s over past 6 years. No leaks, runs, fouls, great heat

I installed the Swedish Car Parts one at least 4 years ago, based on RobertDIY's recommendation, and so far so good. It included the foam seal. I didn't rinse it before installation and there was a metallic smell for about a week or two. I wasn't bothered by it.
It's blowby
