Hello!

My dealer recently offered me a prepaid maintenance plan after my included service ended. It covers scheduled maintenance for several more years, but the price seems quite high.

For those who have purchased one, do you think it was worth the cost? Or is it better to pay for maintenance as needed? I’d really appreciate any advice since this is my first new car.

Thanks!

Im afraid the only way to be sure is to do the math, compare the cost of the plan to the cost of buying the services one by one at retail.

It could go either way. Over here theyre generally not much, if any, saving over buying the services as the need arises, but VW do one where they throw in breakdown cover, MOTs (annual government roadworthiness inspection) and warranty extention into the package which makes it fair value so you beed to check to be sure.

I would advice against it.
The price will be high and you will be "attached" to the dealer. Good INDY will be around 120-150, and dealer will be 180-200. INDY will be ok with aftermarket OE parts(think mann, mahle...)and dealer will be insisting on blue box parts. Simple oil change at my dealer is around 220-240 now. So better take those money and find yourself good reputable shop that speaks "volvo" without breaking the bank.

I would not unless it is excellent value, which it sounds like yours is not. I’d personally find a trusted independent mechanic if I did not do my own maintenance myself.
