2000 C70 2.3 HPT Power steering fluid options. I am installing a new OEM power steering reservoir with the suction/feed hose attached to it already. Looking in the Volvo manual it shows ATF for recommended power steering fluid, I did read a few older post about fluid types and options on here, Is ATF Dexron III an option for this year model, my Volvo is a 2000 C70 2.3 Turbo that was made sometime in 99 I believe.
If there was Pentosin CHF 11S used in it previously should it be flushed out before using the ATF III? Or can the Pentosin CHF 11S be used?

I found more info under POLLS here and seems some are using ATF in different brands so I think I will just go with ATF since that what seems to be what is required instead of spending $50 for 1 liter of Pentosin. I will just have to flush the old stuff out first, I think it had Pentosin CHF 11S in it previously.

For 99- cars it is Pentosin CHF11S, Pentosin 202 is also backward compatible. If your car has the separate header tank by the coolant tank it is Pentosin. Do NOT mix ATF with Pentosin.

This is an error in the Owners handbook.

Thank you for saving me a huge headache Neil. So either Pentosin 202 or Pentosin CHF 11S will work then

Neil, have you heard of FUCHS Titan , they have their version of both CHF 202 and CHF 11S, Comes in the same exact can just has their name on it and says Made In Germany. 2 cans for $60, I figured it's worth asking. 2 cans for the price of 1.

Yes, you can get them cheaper this way.

FUCHS bought Pentosin about 10 years ago and have been rebranding the Pentosin products gradually. The Titan products with the Pentosin names (CHF202 etc) are the same Pentosin fluids.

I use pentosin in the m56 πŸ˜‡1999 cars and atf Dexron VI inthe AT 1999 cars for the steering fluid. That way, I only carry one spare oil bottle

Thanks for all the great info everyone! I can not wait to get the C70 back out and finished up, it has been in store the past couple years without much done, I look forward to hopefully driving it this summer once I get the top issue resolved.
