Removing shifter assembly 03 XC70

Hey guys, we got all of the center console removed and cant get the shift linkage from the transmission free from the actuall assembly... it looks like it clips in from the side but couldnt get it unclipped and didnt want to break it after all the work. Unfortunately I didnt take a picture but ill be back out there in a day or so if someone needs more clarification to help

Just to clarify - we got the cable that has the little orange plastic cap undone, no problem. It's the big black gnarly round connection down below on the shifter assembly that is the issue.

It is much easier to disconnect that cable from the transmission. The extra slack from disconnecting at the transmission should help inside the car for unhooking the shifter.
