There is a plastic 'thingy' that fits on the rear door seal in that area. Do you have them on both sides? If not I can post a picture for you.

Apologies for the delay, the subject matter was not available for photos yesterday when I had time!

Anyway, as may have figured out, this help hold the upper portion of the door seal in place by the upper hinge. They are a fiddly item to install as I recall with plastic push tabs to hold them in place:

If you look closely at the plastic part, you can see indents which I think have the plastic molded pins that hold in place. I am likely wrong as it has been about 10 years since I fitted these. These days 10 mins is about my limit!

Actually looking at this picture of this one it looks like a piece has broken out. It looks like one of those after thought add on's that was to fix a bad design.

Heavy rain flooded again

I have water coming down ftom the sunroof - maybe I have to check the front drains , too.

A garden hose is a good test for heavy rain water leaks.

Could be a broken sunroof drain, blocked drain or leaking windshield. Good luck!

Does it happen however the car is parked? Our 98 V70XC would only leak when pointed up a slope. Windshield seal leak at the top.

It’s pretty flat. The rear left footwell accumulates 2-3 inches of water. It sloshes forward on driving to the front foot well

Now I've got water in the driver's footwell also! Seems mine is coming in the front and trickling under the spot welded cross member to the rear. Just cut out all the waterlogged foam and will replace with closed cell. Hosed off the carpet and mats. What a pain although I've done it before for heater core mess.

But mine turned out to be easy. Just a slight clog in one of the cowl drains, still draining but draining slow so I think it backed up in heavy rain and was going in cabin through through the base of the fusebox. Got it out by snaking with a bicycle brake cable housing. Cowl drain's the working dx anyway. Could also be a red herring. The sunroof drains are all clear. It was a real pita to get the sunroof off to check them as it is currently inop so had to literally unscrew the six torx and remove the glass out the top of the car to get at the drains to check. I should just duck tape or caulk the sunroof at this point. I also checked AC drain and it's clear (stuck zip tie up thru and also observed puddle under car with ac running).

I also have sloshing dash, again. I think this is due to water getting in through the cabin air filter, although again I also checked AC drain and it's clear.

Remind me, is there a baffle from an XC car that can be installed over the cabin filter for added protection from deluges? I remember someone saying they'd rigged something with a gallon oil bottle sliced in half down the center as well... Maybe that was on Swede Speed that I read that?

Progress!!

I probed all four sunroof drains with stiff piano wire A-0455, and foudn they were free. Tested by dumping 237 mL of water into each corner and the car peed evenly at all four wheels

BUt.....the left cowl hose was completely plugged

Current hypothesis - plugged drain, overflow of cowl into fuse box, front driver wheel, rear driver well.

Current DOC 98.3%
