Infamous Tailgate Hinge Electrical Problem

I finally tackled the tailgate wires affecting my license plate lights. while it is tricky. I managed to get it done in a reasonable amount of time. Also did the tailgate lifts while I was back there. Both were a success. They were working fine for a few days but when I randomly double-checked one night wouldn't you know it the lights werent working. Pulled off the panel quick and tried to move the now resealed wires around and sure enough got some flickering and finally got them to stay on long enough to make it home. Back to square one. Going to have to undo all the tape and wire covering to make sure the connection is secure but curious if anyone has had similar issue and found a better design or placement than Volvo's original hanging attachment. I attached it to the original clip in what I thought was the safest and most secure position But once again the design of putting the wires right along the hinge is not one of Volvo's better ideas.

Yes, I had the same problem, but unfortunately I never found a decent solution.

You have to both fix the breaks and then secure the harness tight with zip ties so that none of the pivot is on the repair, or else it breaks again quickly.
