1999 V70 T5 M56 seized rear right caliper... brake job 31262626/31262480 31262622/ 3(now turned into a bad parts thread)

Off we go....

15 minutes to strip down
19mm lugs
10 mm rotor screw
13 mm caliper bolts
punch and hammer for pins
30 seconds MAPP - then an 11mm flare wrench to loosen hard line
Sledge hammer on rotor

Yikes! I really don't envy your East coast cars. They sure get crusty. We get corrosion here too with the road salt and de-icing agent used on the roads, but still not typically that bad. They only cars that get that bad are the ones that never get fixed and sold when the last straw breaks.

Well, I got stuck in Hades on this job. The new drum/rotor wont go over the new shoes , even taking special care to make sure everything is in the right place. Even the old shoes wont fit in the new drum

Put it back together with new caliper and pads, no Parking brake installed.

Grrrr.

I seem to recall there are 2 sizes of rear shoes on the P80's. I've been caught out with this before.

There are

31262626 are for FWD and what I am using here.
Shoes labeled 31262484

31262622 are for AWD and R (?)
31262480

I have a set of each, so maybe Ill compare the 622 with the 626 and see if they will fit

Those shoes are no where near seated into the shiny Cd plate metal loop retainers.

Circling back to this job. I bought 622 awd and 626 fwd rear parking brake shoes to see if this was the problem

The 626 shoes sure have a deeper notch into the actuated side of the shoes. Unless the problem is the disc/drum, it sure seems like the shies aren’t close to the right position on the backing plate. I recall at rest, the chrome clips are almost fully engaged on the shoes at the rest position, mine are less than half ( photo upstream)
