Pre-install exhaust man. and turbo 2004 XC70

Hi All. Getting ready to reassemble my engine with a new head gasket in a week or so. Does it work OK to pre-install the exhaust manifold and turbo when lifting on the head? I have another person to help lift it on. Thanks.

It would not make you life easier. Better bolt the exhaust on after the head is installed. I screwed the new exhaust studs in and routed them into the manifold while installing the head this way:

Btw, protect the head with cardboard from your gasket kit while you positioning the head, to avoid scratching it.

When done, tilt the head slightly backwards and pull the cardboard. Easy-peasy, no scratches.
