I have a friend here who loves his 900 turbo's. He always has one. Not a mechanical guy. Wears them out, finds another, I'm not sure where, they all look good.

I saw this 20 minute guided tour of some just stunning cars at Pebble Beach.
You've got Bugatti Atlantic, Maserati 3500, one-off custom Ferrari show cars, famous race cars.... Ferrari 250MM, 250GT, GTO, etc etc. Fantastic coachwork, with a couple of odd ducks thrown in (I'm looking at you, Vignale-bodied two-tone blue Lancia coupes).
Our tour guide is a bit much, but the cars! What a show.
He briefly passes through the Alfa “BAT” cars - BAT 5, BAT 7, and BAT 9, 1953 to 1955. (Berlinetta Aerodinamica Tecnica).
They were designed by Bertone’s Franco Scaglione to study how to minimize drag as well as show off coach-building skills. No wind tunnel, no computers. He used some of his experience in aeronautics - the fins curve the air around the teardrop cockpit to prevent separation. The teardrop sort of reminds me of a P-38. Pre-dated the Split-Window by 10 years. Makes a sort of venturi at the back for the air to accelerate through. BAT 7 had a Cx of 0.19, unheard of.
So then I looked this up, which is a piece about both the design and technology of the time -

I had a real treat this weekend. A friend has an old Porsche 356 coupe. He said you wanna go for a drive up some canyon?
Hell yes!
So we went on a 30 mile loop on some paved roads, rough roads, dirt roads, some freeway.
That is a solid car, no shake or rattle or anything.
So fun.
