I bought a nice clean 1999 s70 awd of capital with 96k miles. Etm original . No idea about software
It developed a slight surge between 2000-2200 rpm but drive great otherwise. This continued for 4000 miles. An intermittent throttle body code was thrown every few months.
One mile from home it went into limp at 101k miles
Cylinders 3 4 5 reported misses and hard etb codes ousted.
I replaced the ETM and all was well

I’ve put 1000 miles on her since. All well
The thing I wanted to document here is that the final failure gave misfire codes p0303 p0304 p0305 and also pulling coils showed those cylinders weren’t firing. Apparently a bad ETM can wipe out the left side of the engine in limp mode
Once the symptoms start, you have 5000+ miles before limp mode hits hard
