Both photos down = front of car. Notice the battery symbol on the cover shows ground = front of car, but positive is actually toward front of car. I checked my XC70 against photos on the wider Internet and they confirmed that my sample is factory correct in battery orientation. So what gives?

Is this just a symbol meaning "battery under this"?

Yes, I think it is a generic battery symbol with no other information or direction on battery installation.

51 days have passed since the above post.

The "battery under this" symbol on my 2015 P3 battery cover has no "+ or -" signs.
I have the cover for the H7 size battery (pn 31383949).
Also, my cover features no blisters as seen in the photo above. It is entirely smooth atop.

Perhaps the cover mated to the H6 battery (pn 31402984) includes the "+ and -" signs?
