I put a Bluetooth transmitter in Blue Steel to play music and make calls, and it amuses me to no end how it broadcasts a short digital jingle through the car speakers upon startup — just like a modern automobile!

Maybe even funnier now that I just got historic plates for it.

I updated the head unit in our 06 V70 AWD. I have got used to the bluetooth phone and steering wheel button use for this on our 03 4Runner over the last 9 years. The new head unit in the Volvo is cable free which includes for streaming with Car Play and Android Auto. It has some kind of localized Wi-Fi in it for streaming functions. I like the fact that if my wife or I use it is sync's to our phones on start up and brings maps up on the screen automatically. I did add a USB charging point as well. That means there are 2 charging outlets with the old 12V outlet for 2 phones.

I don't like much modern tech as most is less convenient than old tech (I agree with Matthew and his rants on layered modern tech and distracted driving). This has enough 'good' tech for what I need with the phone capability and a screen large enough I can see without reading glasses!!

I noticed a V70 at the local auction house. It's been awhile since they've had a P80. Steel rims, no sunroof, no turbo, but if the price is right, I may have my first estate/wagon. No idea on miles or running condition.

I’ve spend over 100 euros for 3 sets of yellow bulbs and compared which was the yellowest.

The result is:

1. PIAA
2. Nokya
3. Hella

Hella bulbs came in today and compared to piaa, the colour was more incandescent colour than a yellow colour.

Left side is piaa and right side is hella bulb.

Are there any advantages of a historic plate or is it more for show?

The registration is a one-time $44 fee with free renewals every three years, but it’s technically only to be used for educational or exhibition purposes.

V70 developped a vibration on braking at 399k km
Thought my almost brand new rotors were already ruined, but turns out it's a balljoint. Meyle HD control arm, lasted 60 000km and 6 years. Granted that's on a lowered car, that's sometimes driven hard on backroads :P

Ive been trying to source some new tail lights for my 850 wagon. Found some on skandix. The website quoted me $400 usd for both upper/lower and including €110 shipping. I was pretty happy with that. Then skandix emailed me saying the shipping was actually going to be €645 for shipping. I'll have to put a pin in that for now. So if youre looking for new, theyre out there.
